Invitation: UNEA-7 Side Event

Gender and Chemicals in Focus: Turning Global Commitments into Local Impact

On behalf of the Gender & Chemicals Partnership, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the upcoming G&CP Green Room Side Event during UNEA-7.

Thursday, December 11, 2025
UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya
9.30 – 11.00 EAT
Meeting Room CR-14

The Gender & Chemicals Partnership (G&CP) is a global multi-stakeholder coalition committed to strengthening gender equality and sustainable chemicals management. Supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) and Partnerships2030, the Partnership promotes gender-responsive approaches to safer, more sustainable chemical practices worldwide.

Chemical pollution and hazardous substances continue to pose risks comparable to climate and biodiversity crises, and are estimated to cause 9 million deaths each year. While harmful chemicals impact all people, women and girls are often disproportionately affected due to biological differences, socio-economic roles, and differentiated exposure across key sectors such as textiles, electronics, agriculture, mining, beauty and personal care, as well as in domestic work. Addressing these inequalities requires coordinated international action, improved data, practical tools and inclusive policy responses.

Your participation in this Green Room side event would be greatly valued, as a way of bridging stakeholders, policymakers, exchanging practical experiences and exploring how gender consideration can be meaningfully integrated into national and international chemicals and waste policies through Gender Action Plans. The discussion will also look ahead to the first International Conference (IC-1) under the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC) in 2026 and identify areas for cooperation and action.

We would kindly ask you to indicate your availability to participate through an e-mail confirmation through sending a rsvp for in person participation to noto[at]zdhc.org or via the following link for online participation by December 5th, 2025.

If there are any questions or specific requests, please contact noto[at]zdhc.org.

We look forward to your presence at this forthcoming event.
